Graeme has always been gifted in providing unique solutions to problems. Starting his financial career selling stocks and bonds in the late 1970’s, Graeme has had a tremendous amount of experience in the industry. After years of involvement with capital markets under his belt, Graeme ventured into business consulting. As a business consultant for over 15 years in both the private and public sector, Graeme earned the title ‘Mr. Fix It’ from the various clients he had worked with. He was tasked with learning how a business runs (from A to Z) and then provide solutions on how to make that business more profitable. Apart from his expertise in software and technology, what really helped Graeme be an integral partner to his clients was his foundational understanding of finance and the tax code. Graeme’s constant thirst for knowledge in taxation helped set him apart from other experts. In 2009, he joined Goodfellows Financial as the in-house tax specialist, licensed advisor for both mutual funds and insurance, and in turn helped grow the business further. Since retiring his speedos and ski tights, Graeme enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Debra and their 6 dogs, along with hunting, golfing and fishing.
Insurance Advisor
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®
Finance was at the forefront of Mike’s career path since he could remember. His mother made the difficult decision to give up her career in nursing when she started a family with her husband. Tragedy struck and Mike lost his father at the age of 8 and understood quickly what it meant to struggle financially. Unfortunately, there was no life insurance benefit from the death of his father and little income coming into the household, Mike experienced first-hand how significant insurance (or lack there of) plays a role in a family’s struggle. Right out of school, Mike earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) designation and vowed to himself that he, his future family (and any other family he meets along the way), will never have to endure those hardships if he had any say in it. With a Client First philosophy, Mike provides customized planning in the security of wealth to our clients. Mike says it well; “I am a by-product of my circumstances in life. My job is to ensure I can deliver some light during a families’ darkest time. It helps preserve the integrity of the family unit, the families’ future and it just feels good knowing I’m making a positive difference in someone’s life”. Mike loves connecting with nature (especially on a golf course), spending time with his beautiful wife Rizza and daughter Arya and is a huge sports fan (especially Martial Arts).

In the fall of 2020 Goodfellows Financial and Basic Financial chose to merge firms and partner as one. The principals Bill Goodfellow, Graeme Ross and Mumin Basic chose the trade name of Basic Financial Services Inc. moving forward. On a day-to-day, it’s business as usual, only now we have new resources and capabilities to continue driving value for you. We provide a holistic approach to financial planning, investment planning and tax planning that will allow for great synergy. With the partnering of specialists in their field, the firm can serve many needs of our clients. We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for putting your trust in us over the years and bringing us to where we are today.
At Basic Financial Services, we are advocates in helping people build their future their way. Unfortunately, some people just don’t have much input in their future. That’s why we believe in serving our community by donating a portion of our profits to Autism Ontario (Niagara Chapter). Autism Ontario (Niagara Chapter) is one organization that we feel particularly connected to. Aside from enhancing awareness about autism in our community, the Niagara Chapter works diligently in holding various fundraising events, runs programs and events for individuals with ASD and their families to get involved, socialize and network. Their hard work helps create a better future for those with Autism and their families. Our clients feel we make an impact in their futures, so why not make an impact on the futures of those with specials needs?
